DAY 1
09.30hrs: Meet at Sandakan Yacht Club, Sandakan. Register and stand by for departure.
10.30hrs: Departure from the jetty
11.15hrs: Arrive at Libaran island. Free and easy. Relax at the sun deck area while enjoying the sun or walk along the beach.
12.30hrs: Lunch
14.00hrs: Briefing about the turtle’s conservation program by our in-house Honorary Wildlife Warden. Visit the turtle hatchery after the briefing (free admission) set up by Walai Penyu Conservation Park with the collaboration of the Sabah Wildlife Department (SWD) an effort to address the threat of extinction of turtles as well as creating awareness and educate the public.
15.00hrs: Walk along the beach to Kampong Pulak Libaran, the only village on the island. The village on the island is a small and quiet place surrounded by coconut trees. Here you will be able to see how these villagers carry out their daily routine. They are mainly boat makers, fishermen, and fishnet-makers. Your guide will explain how the boat and fishnet are made during the village visit. Enjoy the refreshing coconut juice before you head back to the camp.
18.00hrs: Get the chance to release a baby turtle while enjoying the sunset.
18.30hrs: Dinner and wait for ranger call for turtle sighting
**Even though the record shows turtles come to Libaran island consistently, the sighting is still NOT GUARANTEED.
Overnight- camping style (2 people per camp)
DAY 2
06.00hrs: Join the daily beach cleaning with our staff as part of Walai Penyu’s continuous efforts towards a clean environment and to attract turtles to come to the beach to lay their eggs. Beach cleaning aimed at removing marine litter and collecting valuable information on the amounts and types of litter on beaches. The garbage is removed for more responsible and healthier disposal and where possible, recycling or reusing of the materials retrieved from the daily cleaning. (this is a voluntary program, participation is not compulsory)
0700hrs: Breakfast
08.30hrs: Check-out.
19.15hrs: Arrive at Sandakan Yacht Club jetty.
End of service.
Facilities:
Sun deck area, beach volleyball, free flow of tea and coffee, mini bar, limited electricity power, snorkeling gears.
Remark:
Only an in-house guide is allowed to handle all activities stated in the itinerary.
